Lomond went into the rock battle minus Murphy, McMillan & Marment due to injury and suspension. Lomond started 4-4-2 again and looked to convert the chances we’ve been creating in recent weeks. The first chance of the game came for Dumbarton inside 2mins when a long ball over the top resulted in a shot by the centre that was touched over the bar by keeper Grant. Lomond started to settle after the opening 10mins and the game was fairly tight with few chances at either end. Lomond then started to win the midfield battle and put Dumbarton under some pressure with Dow going close after beating 3 men. Lomond rarely looked in trouble and forced Dumbarton to shoot from distance for much of this game and this continued up until HT.
HT Lomond Rock 0-0 Dumbarton
2nd half started much the same, both teams battling it out in the middle with Lomond having the better play and pushing forward although the final ball was letting Lomond down when in numerous good positions. Lomond finally got their chance mid way through the 2nd half when Jamie Wilson was brought down by the Dumbarton keeper. Up stepped Beaumont from the penalty spot and the Dumbarton keeper dived to his left to make the save, two penalty misses two weeks running. Worse was to follow moments later for Lomond when the Dumbarton forward burst through the middle beating 3 rock players before being brought down by Gallacher in the box, penalty kick and red card for the rock defender. Keeper Grant saved the spot kick only for the striker to strike the rebound into the net. Lomond 0-1 Dumbarton. Even though down to 10 men Lomond still managed to dictate the play and put Dumbarton under more pressure till late on when two Dumbarton players were dismissed for second yellows. Lomond were unable to find the equalizer and Dumbarton claimed all 3 pts.
Yet again wondering why we lost this game, disappointing result with various good chances going to waste, but the goals will come if rock keeps creating the chances we have last couple games
