Lomond Rock ground out another win on Wed night away to Inverkip in the Centenary Cup. Kip started the brighter and scored early on with a deflected scrappy effort after a goalmouth scramble. Rock took a while to get going on the hard bumpy park but started to force their way back into the game by creating numerous chances and applying plenty of pressure. The rock then lost striker Jamie Wilson with a thigh strain and replaced him with Dow, short time later full back Kev Graham went off injured and was replaced by Russell. The first half ended with rock dominating the play.
HT Inverkip 1-0 Lomond Rock
Second half, rock carried on where they left off and kip were pinned on their 18 yard line for much of the play. Rock again missed a couple of chances before switching to 3-4-3 formation and it paid off with 15mins left when good chasing by Dow resulted in the big striker stretching to slide the ball past the keeper and into the net. 1-1. Rock were well on top now and it came as no surprise 5mins later with the winning goal from Murphy after a long cross into the box.
Another victory for the rock and they go into their final game in the Centenary Cup needing a draw v premier side Inverclyde to progress to the Quarter Finals.
