Rock exited the West of Scotland cup on sat after a defeat to a decent side from the Stirling League.
Rock were missing C.Graham, Dow, Marment and Beaumont going into the tie and lined up 4-4-2 to start. Murphy came back into centre mid and Kev Graham moved to the left back slot with Stewart filling in at right back again after a good showing v sporto.
The visitors started the stronger and applied plenty of pressure for the first 10mins with the pacey forwards causing problems for the rock defence and the right back whipping in some dangerous crosses. Rock settled though and pinned Condoratt back in their own half and began to create some chances of our own. First of all a good turn and shot saw McMillan hit the bar with the keeper beaten and Wilson testing the away keeper with a couple of strikes. Rock then had a very strong penalty appeal when Wilson went down in the box after a clumsly challenge by the away defender. Condoratt then took the lead against the run of play when from a throw in the striker cut inside and curled a lovely shot in off the far post. Rock down 1 nil.
This lifted the visitors and they had another couple of half chances to go 2 up. HT score Rock 0-1 Condoratt
2nd half started fairly even with both midfields getting stuck in and the tackles flying in. Rock battled away well and created a glorious opportunity to level the game when King squared the ball for Wilson and from 12 yards the Rock striker put the ball over the bar. Worse was to come 5mins later when Condoratt were awarded a very soft penalty after a challenge by Doherty. The away striker slotted home the resulting penalty kick to put the visitors up 2-0. The game boiled over after a late tackled from the visitors and ref had to get the book out on a couple of occassions. Rock were now chasing the game and made changes by going 3-5-2 and bringing on Gordon, Dooley & new signing McKiernan with Doherty, McMillan and an injured Kev Graham making way. A couple more chances for either side with Gallacher clearing off the line for rock and the visitors keeper pulling off a superb save from King.
FT Rock 0-2 Condoratt
Overall a disappointing result but Rock management were pleased with the attitude of the players for battling away throughout against a decent side, and were unlucky first half to go in a goal down.
